A drunk driver rear-ended and killed another driver on the 60 Freeway early Sunday morning, resulting in a fiery multi-vehicle crash.
The accident happened about 2 a.m. on Diamond Bar on the eastbound 60 Freeway, west of Brea Canyon Rd. Sheng-Ting Shih, a 32-year resident of Walnut, was speeding in a 2012 BMW when he rear-ended a 2001 Ford driven by George Deirkarkourian, a 23-year-old Diamond Bar resident. The force of the collision knocked Deirkarkourian's vehicle into two other vehicles.
According to the CHP, Deirkarkourian was pronounced dead at the scene. Shih's passenger, a 30-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital.
Shih was arrested for alleged DUI.
