A driver was killed on Wednesday morning in Long Beach after his car slammed into a stopped big rig.
The accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. in the 2100 block of West Pacific Coast Highway. The driver, 62-years-old, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina eastbound on PCH. The driver veered to the left and struck the front of a big rig truck which was stopped in the center turning lane. The big rig driver was intending to turn left to enter a gas station.
The driver of the big was not injured, according to Sergeant David Marander of the Long Beach Police Department. The decedent's name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
