A tour bus collided with a big rig on the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights today.
The accident happened about 9:38 a.m. on the eastbound 60 Freeway. A charter bus and a semi-truck were on the eastbound 60 near 7 th Ave. when they collided. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Thirty-four people were injured; six were taken to local hospitals.
Based on photos of the accident scene, the accident most likely happened because one of the drivers made an unsafe lane change, or drifted into the other lane. Whether the big rig driver or charter bus driver was at fault, there will be a large insurance policy available to pay everyone's injury claims.
Due to the number of injury claims likely to be brought, the at-fault driver's insurance company can be expected to vigorously defend their driver by denying fault and/or minimizing the victims' injuries.
