A big rig crashed and overturned on the 710 Freeway in Long Beach this morning.
The accident happened about 1:55 a.m. on the 710 Freeway at Del Amo Blvd. The driver of a semitrailer was southbound on the Long Beach Freeway when a car cut him off, causing the truck driver to lose control and slam into the center divider. Debris from the big rig crash spilled over onto northbound lanes, causing a second collision. The second collision happened when a northbound driver braked suddenly to avoid the debris, resulting in another car rear-ending the braking vehicle.
Though the big rig driver was temporarily trapped in his tractor's cab, no injuries were reported in the accident. The truck driver's trailer was empty at the time of the crash.
The Long Beach 710 Freeway is heavily traveled by big rigs and is often the scene of tractor-trailer accidents. You are advised to speak with an attorney before you speak to the other driver's insurance adjuster. Though the insurance adjuster will attempt to suggest otherwise, his or her goal is not to take care of you after an accident; the adjuster's goal is to extract information from you, including your recorded statement, which they will later try to use against you in order to pay you as little as possible for your property damage and your injury claim. Don't fall for it. You need the protection of an experienced personal injury attorney.
