A multi-car crash on the southbound 405 freeway in Inglewood early Saturday morning left five people injured.
The accident happened about 2:40 a.m. near the 105 interchange. A female driver had pulled onto the shoulder with car trouble. She called her boyfriend to assist. The boyfriend arrived, also pulled onto the shoulder, and the female's daughter got into the boyfriend's car as they waited for AAA roadside assistance. The driver of an Audi then slammed into the parked two vehicles. The Audi then spun across the freeway and was struck by other southbound cars.
Five people were injured in the accident and transported to local hospitals. Two of the accident victims had to be extricated from the vehicles by firefighters using the jaws of life. Three of the five victims are in critical condition.
Officers are still investigating the cause of the crash. According the CHP, several of the drivers involved in the crash, including the Audi driver, are suspected drunk drivers.
If you or someone you care about has suffered serious injuries in a car accident, you should speak with a personal injury attorney who specializes in serious injuries, including spinal cord injuries. In this case, where five people were injured, and the driver who caused the collision was likely a drunk driver, there is a good chance that driver will not have enough insurance to cover everyone's injury claims. If the injury victims had uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage on their own vehicles, they may be able to seek additional compensation from their own car insurance companies.
