Two men were killed in separate pedestrian accidents in Downey on Tuesday, just blocks apart.
The first accident happened just before 8 p.m. at the intersection of Rosecrans Ave. and Lakewood Blvd. A truck struck a 34-year-old Pico Rivera pedestrian. The man was transported to a Lynwood hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The second pedestrian accident happened just after 10:30 p.m. An 81-year-old Downey resident was hit by a car as he was crossing the street mid-block in the 13200 block of Woodruff Ave., just north of Foster Rd. He was also transported to a Lynwood hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Both pedestrian accidents are under investigation by the Downey Police Department.
