Drunk Elderly Driver Kills Leisure World Resident Riding in Wheelchair

A drunk elderly driver struck a Leisure World resident who was riding his motorized wheelchair last week. The victim died Monday.

The accident happened on May 20th at about 5:39 p.m. at the intersection of Saint Andrews and Tam O'Shanter. Driver Dale Snyder Quinn, a 75-year-old Seal Beach resident, was driving his car inside the gated Leisure World community. Quinn struck an 86-year-old Leisure World resident who was riding in a motorized wheelchair.

The elderly accident victim was transported to Long Beach Memorial Medical Center, where he died on Monday. It has not yet been determined whether his death was the result of the car accident or other causes.

According to Seal Beach Police Sergeant Rick Ransdell, the driver was arrested for drunk driving.
