Man who exited his car on 134 Fwy in Glendale hit and killed

|

A man was killed on Saturday after exiting his car on the 134 freeway in Glendale and being hit by two cars.

The accident happened at 12:24 p.m. A silver 2001 Honda CRV had stopped for unknown reasons in a middle westbound lane of the freeway, just before Pacific Ave. A man driving a 2005 Toyota Solara then rear-ended the stopped Honda. The driver of the Toyota Solara, a 42-year-old West Hollywood resident, exited his car and walked toward the center divider wall. He was standing in the carpool lane when he was first struck by a 2011 Lexus IS 250 that was traveling at about 75 mph and had merged into the carpool lane to avoid the disabled vehicles. The impact propelled the man over the center divider and into the eastbound carpool lane. According to witnesses, the man was still alive and moving when he was hit by a second vehicle.

The Lexus driver remained at the scene. The eastbound driver fled the scene and has not been identified.

The driver of the Honda suffered serious injuries.

The identity of the decedent has not been released.
