A six-vehicle car crash in Costa Mesa on Thursday left four people injured.
The accident happened at 1:45 p.m. near the intersection of Newport Blvd. and Fair Dr. According to Lieutenant Greg Scott of the Costa Mesa Police Department, the driver of a Chevrolet Tahoe ran a light and T-boned a Pontiac Bonneville. Four other vehicles were then struck.
Four people were injured and transported to Hoag Hospital: the male driver of the Tahoe and his female passenger, the driver of the car the Tahoe broadsided, and the occupant of one of the vehicles stopped at the light.
The first issue raised in a multi-car crash where only one driver was at fault is: did the driver who caused the crash have sufficient insurance coverage to pay for everyone’s injury claims? If not, then the injury victims can make an underinsured motorist claim under their own policies if they carry uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. Making such a claim will not affect your rates whatsoever. Read more about underinsured motorist claims here.
