Common Cause of Freeway Motorcycle Crashes
One of the most common causes of freeway motorcycle accidents is an unsafe lane change. Oftentimes, a vehicle driver changes lanes without seeing the motorcyclist. Because of the speeds involved on a freeway, and the vulnerability of a motorcyclist, who does not have the protection of the steel frame of a car around him or her, freeway motorcycle accidents are often deadly to the cyclist. If the motorcyclist is not killed by the initial collision, the cyclist may be run over by another car as the victim lies on the roadway.
